MAC Matte Lipstick Chili: Swatches & Review
Want to feel some heat?Ever heard of the MAC lipstick called “Chili”, from its permanent collection ? No? Well, it may not be the most talked about lipstick like Russian Red or Cosmo but MAC Chili was love at first sight lipstick for me & holds a very special place in my heart.
My Views
MAC Chili is gorgeous burnt orangey red color- as hot and spicey as a Chilli itself !!! In the tube it looks like it has a strong brown base but when swatched it comes across as a brick orange color. For many people, it may seem like a red with orange undertones but on me it looks more orange with a hint of red. What is great about it is that it does not have that blue undertone to it which many red lipsticks do, making it a wonderful color for Indian skin tones which are on the warmer side.
If you are one of those people, who are a little hesitant to wear bold reds & oranges than MAC Chili will not disappoint . It doesn’t look as dramatic as a blue based red lipstick – it is like it’s there but not in your face . Chili is very versatile when it comes to application, go for a stained look with a single stroke or build the shade with more swipes for an intense look. According to me, this is a universally flattering shade which will suit most skin tones. I think it will look more orange on fair-lighter skin & more red on warmer skin tones.
MAC Chili is part of permanent collection and hence it comes in its standard matte black case packaging and of course it has its trademark “vanilla” fragrance, which I love. The Lipstick has matte finish but it isn’t excessively drying & rough on the lips as in the case of MAC’s classic lipstick Ruby Woo. This lipstick is super creamy and glides like a dream on the lips. No pre-moisturisation on the lips is required & over the wear time it gets only a tad bit dry. Minor minor thing for a matte lipstick. Best matte lipstick texture I ever tried! It is insanely pigmented, I have applied only single swipe of color in the picture below & it is has already given opaque coverage. As far as the staying power is concerned, it lasts for a good 4-5 hours on me with light meal in between & when it wears off it goes evenly without leaving patchy stains behind.
Pros:
- MAC Chili will flatter most skin tones
- Highly pigmented
- Matte finish
- Long wearing
- Does not feather or bleed
- Very creamy texture
- Though its Matte its not excessively drying
Cons:
- None for me
Rating: A+
Price: Rs. 990
Recommendation: MAC Chili might not be a much heard about lipstick from the permanent range but it is a beautiful burnt orange red lipstick which will suit most Indian Skin tones. For those, who are afraid to experiment with bold shades of reds & orange, this will be like the first step in the world of bold colors. It has the creamiest texture a matte lipstick can have. Highly recommended!
