I can proudly start this post saying that my search for a good drugstore foundation is over ! Not that I have tried all the foundations in the universe (never tried any high end foundations), but none of the foundations I tried ever satisfied me. They either oxidized or I did not find my match or it looked cakey on me. Recently I bought a foundation which falls in the affordable and easily available band of foundations (trust me not many foundations are available in this band). You might have guessed from the title. It is “Maybelline Fit me foundation”.

Product Description:  Tired of hiding or masking your skin? Find your FIT with Maybelline New York’s “Fit Me Range” Get natural and flawless complexion from every angle with Fit Me!® Matte + Poreless liquid foundation. Skin that shows its fabulous best. Its 25% anti-shine perlite + micro blurring powders, make visible pores and shine disappear, getting you the perfect selfie-ready look. Matte finish foundation. Shade range covers a wide spectrum of skin shades.

Shades: Even though Maybelline’s official website India mentions “Toast” as one the shades, I couldn’t find it in the store. Below are the shades I found :  115 – Ivory, 128 – Warm nude, 230 – Natural buff, 310 – Sun beige, 322 – Warm honey and 330 – Toffee caramel.

I got the shade 330 – Toffee caramel, but this is one shade darker than my skin tone. I was matched with 310 but it was way too light for me. 322 looked pink to me so I went with the last shade. I use a brightening concealer to take away the muddiness that I get when I put on this foundation.

My biggest problem with foundations is the unnatural finish that most of them offer. If you are a dusky girl like me, you will understand this. Most foundations cater to fairer skin tones. I have had a hard time finding the right foundation shade for a very long time. That is when I came to know that Maybelline has launched the Fit me! range in India, so I headed over to my nearest Maybelline counter to buy one. Initially I wanted to buy the concealer from the same range, but the concealer shades were way to light for me so I ended up buying the foundation (obvious reason being, I found a match). I have been testing and trying this foundation for a month now in different ways and I really like it. I use primer only around my nose and I also make sure to moisturize my face properly. Since this foundation doesn’t have any SPF I slap on a good amount of sunscrren beforehand. I sometimes mix it with a lighter foundation, sometimes I use this foundation all over my face and make sure to highlight properly. In every possible way I like this foundation. One of the main reasons being, it is extremely blend-able.

Texture/Finish: The texture of this foundation is neither too runny not too thick. You can just blend this foundation like you apply a moisturizer; this will melt into your skin. Extremely blendable with no effort, whatsoever. Maybelline fit me matte and poreless foundation gives you a semi matte finish. If you have oily skin, setting with a powder is a must. On the other hand it is not hydrating enough for dry skin. I think normal to combination skin can enjoy this foundation more than other skin types.

Lasting Power: This foundation lasts on me for a good 4 to 5 hours after which there’s a little bit of creasing around the nose area. This foundation doesn’t transfer so you can just dab off the oil or sweat from your face without removing the foundation. But if you rub a tissue over the foundation, it comes off.

Shade range: Shade range is good but could have been better. I think in the US, 12 shades are available and there is a variant for dry skin as well. Some may not find their perfect match in this case you can mix two shades and get your match if you like the foundation.

Packaging: It is a glass bottle which is not very travel friendly. Pump dispenser is not there, so the product gets messy around the neck and in the cap. You need to clean the bottle very frequently. Also the product gets wasted if you over-pour it.

Coverage: Maybelline fit me matte and poreless foundation offers medium coverage. You can build it up to some extent, but it doesn’t offer full coverage. You would definitely need a concealer if you have more spots to cover up. It doesn’t look cakey and looks like your skin.
